Witchcraft and poison no match for God

by Cameron Magdamit
Gospel Outreach Bible worker

Philippines—Late one day, while out visiting villages, I became lost in the forest. I had no food, and my flashlight battery was running low.

Then I noticed a house by the river. An elderly man lived there. He gave me directions to my village, but it was late, so I stayed the night and continued my journey in the morning.

The next day, I told the people in my village I had been lost and stayed in a house by the river. They exchanged looks. Later I learned the house belonged to the “poison man.” He used witchcraft to harm people.

When I heard this, I remembered the villagers’ reactions when I told them about staying in the house. They thought I had been poisoned. The old man even claimed he had poisoned me, yet nothing happened. This led people to believe God had kept me safe.

As a result, the poison man became interested in the Bible and started attending Sabbath services. He gave up his evil practices and turned to God.
